Acme Visible was called in to help St. Paul's Hospital in Saskatoon, SK, after their records department ran into ongoing issues with an aging Tabtrac Electric mobile shelving system. With parts no longer available, the system had become unreliable and difficult to maintain.
Acme consulted with the hospital team and presented two options: upgrade the existing electrical system, or convert the carriages over to Mechanical Assist operation. After weighing long-term reliability and maintenance costs, the client chose Mechanical Assist for its dependability and significantly lower ongoing maintenance requirements.
Acme converted 14–23 carriages from electric to Mechanical Assist, tackling them one at a time to minimize disruption. The scope of work included providing file carts, full file move service, dismantling the existing system, and reinstalling the converted carriages — all while maintaining uninterrupted access to the hospital's Records Department throughout the project.
